Exploring Scandinavia and gaining valuable academic experience – that was Nico’s goal when he began his semester abroad in early 2025. As part of his dual study program in Industrial Engineering, he spent several months at the Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences in Lillehammer.
When choosing from over 30 partner countries, Norway quickly became Nico’s top choice – not only for its breathtaking landscapes of mountains, fjords, and waterfalls, but also for the chance to study in a winter setting and experience a new culture.
A key academic highlight was the “Big Data Analytics” course, where Nico deepened his SQL knowledge and got started with Python – hands-on and challenging.
On the personal side: new friends, outdoor adventures, and cultural exchange. Besides a unique role as a volunteer at the Ski World Cup, helping organize and maintain the slopes while picking up skiing, he connected with people from all over the world, and enjoyed outdoor adventures from dog sledding to karaoke nights.
His conclusion: “This semester taught me to step out of my comfort zone – and gave me memories I’ll cherish for a lifetime.”
